Mirko Antico Unveils His Latest Hypnotic DJ Set “Distortion Depth” on the 420µHz Podcast Bardo 16 – A Journey Into the Dark and Minimalistic Sides of Techno. Featuring his signature techno sound, this episode is a must-listen for techno fans seeking a journey into a distortion-filled abyss.

Mirko Antico Discovers Inspiration

He is an accomplished Italian techno producer, and a DJ with a special taste for the dark and minimalistic.

Born and raised in Atessa, a small town in the province of Chieti, located in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Simply, if you have Rome towards the west coast, then this place is on the eastern opposite side of the Italian boot.

Fast forward some years and he attends that one event that marked the genesis of his inspiration. Minus Contakt, held in Rome and organised by his idol Richie Hawtin is the set point in Mirko’s calendar that got him DJing and then soon after into production as well.

The Sound Of Mirko Antico

Since that initial spark that got his fire going, Mirko has become a well-respected producer, and his tracks have been released on several labels such as ONOFF Recording, Symbiostic, Dark Wave, D.M.T Records, Occutech Recordings, and Puzzle Music Underground, just to name a few.

His sound is characterized by its minimalistic concept, as well as its use of darker, hypnotic sounds with atmospheric injections. A combination that melts well with dynamic and rhythmic percussions, fundamentally supported by a deep and distorted kick and bass. Something that equates to techno in my ears.

This is not only me writing praise for our guest. A great testament to his skills is that his tracks have been supported and played by DJs like Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, Richie Hawtin, Rafa Siles, Fabio Florido, Bilboni, Luigi Madonna, Paco Osuna, Maceo Plex, Alex Costa, and many more.

Not surprisingly, the flatter from his colleagues continues, by having many of his tracks mixed by producers like Fede G, Jon Cataldo, S.Sic, Peku, Charles D, and Alex Tsak.

To top this plethora of names from the techno scene and to cement the notion that you are in good hands for this episode. Namely, Mirko Antico’s taste has also touched other artists’ tracks by making remixes for David Phoenix, Bluntac, Chathura, Gianfranco Dimilto, De Feo, Mikel SMR, Mark Grandel, and JCK are just some to be mentioned.

In other words, Mirko Antico has a fat resume, is a prolific producer, a sought-after collaborator, and a techno connoisseur.

Music Beyond Gigs

Being production prolific as that, there might not always be time to set aside for gigs. Having managed to play locally in the past, Mirko now puts all his focus into making new music.

However, he hasn’t left the gig scene completely. His tracks, mixing skills and track selection can still be enjoyed by him guesting podcasts such as Technostate Inc, Symbiosticast, Tucca Podcast, Conundrum Radio, and the AMW Black Label Podcast, just to name a few.

And yes, you’ve guessed it, he is also featured on several compilations such as Sonic Secrets Vol. 2, Underground Imprint, Sublime Techno Vol. 10, Sounds From The Heart Of The Earth, and Semilla Vol. 4.

Seemingly, there’s no limit to what this amazing talent can accomplish. I surely hope the future bares more international club and festival gigs for Mirko Antico, so that his take on techno can be shared and enjoyed by even more enthusiasts.

A Dedicated Techno Artist

In addition to his work as a DJ and producer, Mirko also hosts a podcast called the MKA Podcast where he shares his music and features other artists who make minimal techno, hypnotic techno, raw techno, dark techno, and other dark electronic music. This is still ongoing, with more than 40 episodes already launched in a few years. Hosting many of the techno underground artists this way is, as we have seen, only one of many outlets for his curation of great sounding techno.

Surely dedication and hard work are no rarities to him. Mirko Antico is one of those artists who is always pushing himself to improve his craft. He spends every day in his studio researching new sounds and working to make his music even better. He is a true inspiration to aspiring techno producers everywhere, and his crafted sounds have earned him a following from around the world.

With his know-how and this great network of artist, I find it as a no surprise that his plans for the future, include to one day start a label of his own.

With his talent, passion, and dedication, Mirko Antico is sure to continue making great music for years to come. With our support and hopes that he will return to the 420µHz Podcast as well.

Presenting Distortion Depth

As distortion is such an integral part of techno, we are treated to its various forms in this gem of a set. Starting off by setting a tone of dark, trippy, and deep grooves, I am hypnotized by the tracks and skilful mixes. Slowly but surely the energy and tempo pick up, eventually transitioning into a 303 acid madness towards the end.

But don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself and be convinced of Mirko Antico’s wizardry. So here is Bardo #16 of our 420µHz podcast – Distortion Depth
